My Travel Packing List

In 2019, I took 31 flights to over 7 different countries and 7+ states so I did a lot of refining on what I bring for a trip. I tend to pack minimally but with all the essentials I need. Regardless if I go for a month or a week, it’s pretty much the same list but with some washing involved.

My travel day outfit is always chic, layered but really comfortable. So I’m usually in sports bra, long tank top, aerie legging, loose top and my travel jacket.

I found with everything I had packed – I am usually about 10-12 lbs or 30L which is ideal for me. Since I’m around 5 ft, anything above that tends to be too heavy to carry.

I really would something personalized with the “In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” – Albert Camus
I think it’s too long so maybe just “Invincible Summer” – here in San Francisco, it feels like there’s never summer but quote makes me think about even when the times are rough you can find your strength from within.

My Birthday Wishlist 2012

Hi,
So first off I want to say I know this list is very long.
Secondly, I don’t expect anyone to buy me anything for my birthday.
Lastly, wish list make me nostalgic and suddenly I do not want to age one bit but …
…it’s just that this list been stuck in my head, swirling around and I feel it needs to be set out into the internet void.

Mostly it is a bunch of makeup. I love makeup. The gleam of new packaging, the fresh pressed eye shadows and the buttery texture of powder. Others are bits and bobs for our place, the fact that I now cook and mostly I like a lot of things.

BTW I made Duncan Hines fudge brownies for dessert with walnuts and white chocolate chips.
They are yum!

Also to be noted many of the items are new releases so that could be interesting to you if you want to see what’s hot now or what I think is pretty cool. What I’m lemming for and other stuff

These are the items that recently excited me and I’m thinking of getting.

Coastal Scents – Go Beijing Palette
Costs $9 + Free shipping
Available at Amazon, CoastalScents Website

This palette been on the back of my mind for some time now since it released.
The colors really fit into what I normally go for. I like the satin finish and the pinks/plummy colors.
It suppose to quite small and travel friendly.

Garnier BB Cream (light to medium)
Costs: $10-13 depending on location
Available: most mass retailers & drugstores

I thought I was over the BB cream phase. The magic of 5 in one products comes back to entice me.
It’s suppose to moisturize, provide spf, light coverage, smooth skin and much, much more.
Can a product really do all these things?
Mostly I’m interested in a American style bb cream will provide decent color coverage rather than a Asian one.

Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain
Costs: $9
Available : most mass retailers, drugstores, and Ulta (on sale)
*This is a new launch! Availability may vary*

In particular, I want to try Rendezvous shade (orange – coral).
It appears the spring drugstore launches are doing a good job of duping high-end brands.
These remind me of Tarte Lip Resurgence and Clinque Chubby stick in appearance/packaging.
Recently I’ve been loving Revlon’s lip products such as lip butter, lustrous lip gloss and lipsticks.
I hear they are smooth, high pigmentation and a hint of gloss.

***Other Things***

  • I want to get one of those sleek 3 blushes in one palette, but so pricey to ship! (the one with Lace)

Review Lorac Unzipped Eye Shadow Palette is A+

Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette + Mini Primer
Purchased at Sephora
Price – $40
*Recently it’s also available at Ulta

Let’s end the month of May with a Bang!
This precious palette has been a coveted favorite of mine this month.
It’s everything I looked for in a great palette from pigmentation to texture to package …this is it 🙂

Loraz Unzipped Palette Snapshot Review:

This a absolutely, hands down, amazing palette from Lorac Cosmetics.
I think out of all the different high-end and drugstore neutral palette this is my favorite.
I find that this set is very similar to Lorac’s baked eye shadow collection line.
It was strong pigmentation and silky smoothy buttery texture.

What it is

The Lorac Cosmetics Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette has 10 creamy eyeshadow shades.
It comes with 6 shimmery + 4 matte shadows + 1 Lorac eyeshadow primer

The packaging is amazing for traveling. I took this with me on my carry-on to Mexico.
It’s very slim, the eyeshadow pans are the size of quarters (easy to use) and comes with a mirror.

Swatched on watercolor paper without Primer

This is just for white color background reference.
The colors do lean towards more neutral or nude look.
They would be prefer for work, school and professional environments.

Swatched on arm without primer

This is the full set from Top Row to Bottom Row, Left to Right.

Swatched on arm without Primer ( Top Row)

I can’t possibly rave enough about how excited I was to see that Lorac came out with this formulation.
The shimmer and pigmentation is very close the Lorac’s Little Black Palette (baked) without the bulk.

Undercover – Matte White
Unbelievable – Shimmer Rosy Brown
Unattainable – Shimmer Walnut Brown
Unconditional – Matte Light Brown
Unbridled – Matte Plum Brown

Swatched on arm without primer (Bottom Row)

Did I mention there’s little to no fall out!!!
The matte colors are so pigmented and silky without being chalky.

Undiscovered – Shimmer Gold
Unreal – Shimmer Rose Gold
Uncensored – Shimmer Deep Brwon
Unspoken – Matte Brown
Untamed – Shimmer Deep Dark Brown with Gold Flecks

Overall, I’ve been using this palette non-stop for 2 weeks and I say get it!
At one time they said this palette was limited edition so I really recommend picking it up.
Lorac eye shadows don’t get much hype but they sure do deserve it!

p.s. the mini primer is nice too.

What’s for dinner? Crockpot Stew

Lately, I’ve been really loving my crockpot.
I use it about once a week and it’s wonderful!
I think they are great because they are affordable, they cook while you are at work, and they are easy to use!

I purchase my 5.5 QT crockpot for $25 at Target.
It’s very easy to use (Off, Low, High, Warm) functions.
It’s the perfect size for 2 people +  you get some tasty leftovers.

Beef Stew Recipe
*Mostly you can chop up any vegetables and meat you want, pour in some broth and a pinch of spices.
Afterwards you can just leave and voila! It’s done when you come back. It’s a amazing!

This recipe is a collaboration of many different recipes I’ve looked at and what works for us.
I own a 5.5QT crockpot (medium size) so please adjust to your pot size.
Ingredient do shrink some in the pot but don’t overflow it.

Ingredients
2 Cans of Beef Broth
1-2 roma tomatoes
3 stalks of celery  (celery branch?)
3 russet potatoes
1 onion
1 cup of baby carrots
1 pepper
1 pound of beef roast (cubed)
Minced some garlic
Salt, Pepper, Worcestershire Sauce, Chili Sauce
Fresh Rosemary & Thyme – when available

As I said before this is just what I buy and what I have ready.
Basically any stew like vegetable works, it’s just experimenting.

1) First off make sure everything is washed and cleaned including the crockpot
2) Cut up all the vegetables / meat to bite size pieces (1in)
3) Put the food in the pot, make sure to leave 2 in room at the top
4) Pour in 1.5 cans of beef broth + 3 cups of water
5) Mix in 1 teaspoon  salt, 1/2 teaspoon pepper, 1 tablespoon of chili sauce (spicy), 2 teaspoons of worchester
6) Pinch up some garlic, rosemary & thyme
7) Stir mixture
8) Turn dial (6 hours cook time – choose High) ( 12 hrs cook time – choose Low)
9) Leave
10) If you feel the broth is evaporating too fast, add  1-2 cups water to the pot

Yep and it turns into this yummy stew/soup.
I like mine with biscuits and food coma 🙂
I like to prepare this the ***NIGHT BEFORE*** consumption and turn it on in the morning.

Cheap Thrill Forever 21 Love & Beauty Romantic Palette $5

Forever 21 (exclusive)
Love & Beauty Makeup Palette
Price $4.80

*Can usually be found in displays and buckets near cash registers

I was immediately drawn to how cute the packaging was for this palette, the easy to handle $5 price point and how it looks almost identical to the style of Stila Palette seen here. * different from texture of Stila

I actually took this palette on my cruise with me so I’ve been able to better test out the shadows and wear.
I’m impressed with how sturdy the packaging is and how it is very travel friendly.
The packages comes with a clear plastic protective cover (reflective glare in photo) but it can be easily removed.
It also comes with 2 sponge tipped applicator. I prefer to use my own brushes.

Swatched on Hand without Primer (In order from Top Row to Bottom Row – L to R)

All the colors do have shimmer.
I find them to be smooth and fairly pigmented.
The colors themselves are in the lighter range.

Easy for application
However there is a tiny bit of shadow fall out when the brush is hard pressed
I really love the color variety as it projects both pinky colors and neutral shades.

Top Row
Cream Beige
Walnut Brown
Light Pinky Purple
Light Rose Pink
White Grey

Bottom Row
Champagne Pink
Soft Gold
Royal Purple
Ballet Slipper Pink
Medium Grey

Overall, I am pleased that I have purchased this palette and I think it’s good value for the price.

Bonus! Love & Beauty Makeup Line doesn’t test on animals 🙂

Review The Body Shop Vit E Intense Moisturizer

The Body Shop
Vit E Intense Moisturizer
Price $20

Since I moved to California, I find myself in a state of very, very dry skin.
First off, I would recommend this for dry skin use as it is a thick moisturizer.

I really like this moisturizer as it’s unscented and my skin drinks moisturizer.
I find it to be gentle and it doesn’t sting when my face is washed or irritated.
It does provide a lot of moisturizer as the lotion leans more towards a cream consistency.

It’s a bit on the higher end scale as $20 for 1.7 oz.
But I use it daily and a tub lasts me about 3 months. So I find it is worth the cost.
Plus the Body shop is always having deals and sales going on.

Feel free to ask a Body Shop employee for a sample to try at home ❤

My Trip to Beautiful Boston (Day 1)

Boston is a wonderful city filled with historical sights and sounds of a busy modern city.
It was a pretty random and yet pleasurable trip.
I would highly recommend visiting Boston.
I found the city to be tourist friendly, the FREEDOM TRAIL was great and the food was delicious.
This is part 1 of 4.

The Freedom Trail was basically a red line on the ground that you could follow and it would go by all these cool historical sights and interesting events. They also had a lot of signs that provided background descriptions. It’s free and takes about 1-3 hrs to navigate. It made the day planning a whole lot easier 🙂

Massachusetts State House
Completed in Jan 11th, 1798 was said to the big the most magnificent public building in the new nation.
It’s true I really do like giant domed building. However I got to say our SF city hall kicks it’s …
Anyways, I got a really sweet souvenir pin!

Giant World Exhibit in the State House
I don’t really know why it was there or what they were doing.
Occasionally I would see the world deflating a grown men come out of the world.
How peculiar!

Really old chair in the State House
I’m not sure if this chair is older than America. It well could be.
The guide said the chair was very old and basically held together by inspiration.
I like that thought. A chair held together by inspiration.

Sweets Shop
This was a really adorable cupcake shop.
We got cheesecake cupcake and banana split cupcake.
Both were super delicious! I’m glad we got them.

Some cool old building in North End, Boston
I think it was by a sign that said Paul Revere’s House but it wasn’t. It’s just a neat building.
I like traveling to new places and looking at all the different architecture.
It almost feels like time traveling.

Gourmet Cajun Mac & Cheese from Quincy Market
Quincy market is a neat place that contains a food court, shops and tons of tourists like me.
It’s interesting to think that hundred of years ago people visited the market and here I am.
The mac & cheese was surprisingly delicious and very cheesy.

Prosciutto & Asparagus Pasta  at Pasta Beach
It was creamy and a divine dish! Everything I could have wanted from pasta.
Pasta Beach is a nice, hip restaurant by the pier.
It was bubbling with people and had a very nice ambiance.

Boston Cream Pie Martini from The Omni Parker House
A nightcap anyone?
They sure know how to make a cocktail!
It was strong, sweet and chocolatey.
The Omni-Parker house plays quite a interesting part in history and fairly well preserved.
JFK proposed to Jackie,Ho Chi Minh was a baker there, and Malcolm X was a busboy!
